Interview Tips

Preparing for a Job Interview
Thank you for your interest in Accuity LLP.  We know that you have a lot of career options and are happy that you have considered us.  Our relationship is important to us and we'd like to share some basic recruiting tips.  Listed below are a few steps to consider while preparing for your interview:

  1. Know yourself and be prepared to effectively communicate information about yourself and how your qualifications can benefit your future employer including your:
    • Strengths
    • Weaknesses
    • Academic performance
    • Career experiences and interests
    • Personal goals
    • Other skills and qualifications that may set you apart
  2. Know your resume - it is often the focal point of the interview.  Interviewers will be prepared to ask you questions about your resume, and you should be prepared to answer their questions clearly and concisely.  If you complete step 1 above, you will be prepared to give answers that focus on your strengths and achievements.
  3. Do your research.  Find out as much as possible about the firm.  Some basic information that may be helpful to have about the employer is as follows:
    • Size of firm
    • Types of services
    • Positions available and career path
    • Training program
    • Employee benefits

Your Interview Conduct
It is important to make a good impression during the interview process.  Recruiters will be observing you and your interview conduct carefully to assess whether or not you will fit into their firm's culture and environment.  Some keys to good interview conduct are:

  • Be punctual.
  • Be prepared.  Bring a copy of your resume and unofficial transcripts with you just in case the interviewer did not receive a copy with your file.
  • Dress in a professional manner.  When in doubt of what is proper attire, it is safer to dress more conservatively.
  • Be alert and pay careful attention to the interviewer.  Ask follow-up questions relevant to your conversation.
  • Don't forget to thank your interviewer at the conclusion of the interview.  It is also a good idea to send your interviewer(s) a letter of appreciation via email or a hand-written note expressing your appreciation and confirming your interest in the firm.

We understand that the interview process can be overwhelming, and we hope that the tips above will prove to be a useful tool in alleviating some of the uncertainty faced during this time. Good luck!
